PROJECT

Situated on an alley named Manyar (an Indonesian term for weaver bird) in a densely populated area of Yogyakarta, this 98m2 “omah,” or house, is designed as an attempt to connect with nature despite its urban setting. This house draw inspiration from the characteristics of its surrounding “kampung” or village. Four masses are placed between four gardens, allowing every room to have natural ventilation and daylight. The circulation space becomes part of the outdoor area, resembling narrow alleys between small houses in the kampung.
